Appointment
HELLO FROM THE EXOTIC BODY!
General Policies
We are only allowing one guest to accompany clients to their appointment. If you and another client book back to back appointments and want to come in together, that’s fine- we just ask that you not bring additional guests, as we only have the space to safely accommodate two people and the piercer in a room.
Your guest may not be a minor. Minors may not bring a guest to their appointment, as their parent or legal custodial guardian must be present for the entirety of the appointment; THIS INCLUDES OTHER CHILDREN AND SIBLINGS. Please arrange necessary childcare for children not being pierced, as we cannot allow minors in the building unless they are the ones being pierced.
If you need to reschedule your appointment to comply with these standards, please reach out *NO LATER THAN 3 HOURS* before your appointment time. If you do not cancel the appointment no later than 3 hours before the appointment, the appointment fee is non-refundable.
If you have experienced any symptoms of illness leading up to your appointment, or are feeling generally unwell PLEASE reach out to reschedule your appointment. It is important to us that our clients and staff are as protected as possible from possible transmission of illnesses/infections, not to mention trying to heal a piercing while your body is fighting illness is never an easy task!
Booking an Appointment
- To book an appointment head to https://the-exotic-body.square.site/ or click BOOK NOW from our Instagram page @theexoticbody or our Facebook page ‘The Exotic Body’
*Tattoo appointments are booked directly with our tattoo artist, Steve’O, his direct contact number is (916) 640-4084 or you can find him on Instagram @neverlosttattoo*
We are unable to book appointments over the phone or via email/social media as you will need to enter card info to secure your appointment time slot. If you are having difficulty booking your appointment please reach out and we will be happy to assist you.
If there are no listed time slots for a particular day listed it means we are fully booked for that day. Cancellations are rare and typically happen with very short notice, so we are unable to keep a ‘waitlist’ for daily appointments. We’re rarely more than 3-4 days booked out, so you’ll likely be able to find an appointment within the week. We cannot “squeeze in” between other clients, everyone needs to be allowed the full 30 minutes they booked.
- If you are more than 5 minutes late to your appointment we will be unable to see you. We need the full 30 minutes of your appointment to allow time for the piercer to perform an anatomy check, choose appropriate jewelry, sterilize the jewelry and set up a room while you’re taking care of paperwork, and perform the piercing. Nobody wants a rushed piercing!
- To see a list of currently offered services please check out our pricing page. If there is a piercing or service not listed on the pricing page we likely do not offer that piercing.
- Appointment slots are 30 min long and include the time necessary for your piercer to perform an anatomy check, choose jewelry, discuss aftercare, take care of payment, and perform the actual piercing.
- We can typically perform 3-4 basic piercings per appointment slot on a single client. Please keep in mind that more complex piercings- such as industrial piercings, paired lip or nostril piercings, or genital piercings- may take more time to mark and perform; for this reason, more complex piercings will require their own appointments. For example, if you wanted to come in and get paired high nostrils and additional ear piercings, we would recommend two appointment slots to ensure nobody feels rushed and the piercings are able to be performed safely. If you have any questions about what kinds of appointment(s) you’ll need to book please reach out, we’re happy to help!
- If you need to edit your appointment or make changes try using the Square Appointments app or click “view details” in the messages sent to you to confirm your appointment. If you have any trouble with this step please reach out, we can make changes on our end to already booked appointments!
- We ask that clients reschedule or cancel their appointments no more than 3 hours prior to their appointment. You can reschedule or cancel your appointment via the Square Appointments app, the Square Appointments website, or through the confirmation messages sent at the time the appointment was accepted, by clicking “view details”. If you have any trouble re-scheduling please reach out!
- We can currently allow one guest to accompany each client to their appointment, with the exception of minors (see general shop policies above for details).
- Minors may not accompany clients as “guests”. All minors in the shop must be constantly supervised by their parent or legal custodial guardian for the entirety of the time they are in the shop. We cannot be responsible for children waiting in the lobby and cannot allow children in the piercing rooms if they are not the person being pierced. We have many biohazards and delicate equipment in the studio, so safety is of the utmost importance; we would never want to endanger the lives or health of our clients, their children, or our staff!
- No nipple or genital piercings for minors, absolutely no exceptions, this is the LAW!
- If you are pregnant or nursing we cannot perform a new piercing, we look forward to seeing you another time!
- Have a vacation or event coming up? Sports seasons starting? You shouldn’t remove your jewelry for the entirety of the healing period and we recommend clients avoid swimming while healing their piercings, so make sure to consider any other plans you may have that could be a detriment to healing your piercing and plan your appointments around these things! If you have questions about scheduling around sports seasons or vacations please reach out!
- If you are looking to purchase jewelry you’ll need to book a jewelry purchase appointment, you can find this appointment type listed with all of the piercing type options on our appointments page (https://the-exotic-body.square.site/)
- We cannot accept walk-ins for jewelry purchases. Piercing jewelry is not one size fits all. A piercer must be available to assist you to ensure your jewelry is the appropriate size and shape for your individual anatomy.
- If you need to replace lost jewelry that was previously purchased from us we can arrange a porch pickup, just keep in mind that with a porch pickup the jewelry will be boxed up and given to the client, not installed. If you would like assistance with installing the jewelry you would need to book a jewelry purchase appointment.
- The Exotic Body is not responsible for LOST jewelry. If there is a problem with the jewelry, like the pin breaks or a stone falls out, we would be happy to get a replacement or send the item in for repairs (this process varies brand to brand), but it is YOUR responsibility to make sure the ends stay tight, so make sure you’re checking your jewelry regularly!
- If your jewelry that was purchased from us breaks PLEASE reach out as soon as it happens so that we can get it repaired or replaced. You’ll need to bring the broken jewelry in with you so that we can send it back to the manufacturer for repairs, so hang on to it!
- We offer jewelry removal services if you need assistance getting jewelry out.
There is a $20 service fee for jewelry removals. If you are having a surface or
dermal piercing removed there is a $50 removal fee. - If you are booking an appointment to purchase glass retainers for a medical procedure you would want to book a
“jewelry purchase” appointment. If you have purchased glass retainers from us
already from a previous procedure there is a $20 service fee for changing the
jewelry. If you are purchasing retainers from us there is no charge to change
up to 4 pieces of jewelry; if any more than 4 pieces of jewelry need to be
changed there is a $20 service charge. We cannot re-insert jewelry that was not
purchased from us . - If you are purchasing new jewelry from us there is no fee for us to install the jewelry. We cannot insert outside jewelry. If you are bringing in jewelry you have previously purchased from us there is a $20 service fee for installing it. We do not charge a service fee for check-ups or
downsizes.
- For all minor piercing appointments the minors’ parent or legal custodial guardian must be present for the entirety of the appointment, sign a legal release document and provide valid state issued ID, absolutely no exceptions.

- The age ranges for minor piercings are as follows: Infant 3-9 months, Child 7-13, and Child 14-17. We cannot pierce any minors outside of these age ranges. If you need jewelry for a minor outside of these age ranges please contact us, so that we can make sure that your appointment is booked with a piercer who works with minors in the age range of your child.

If you need jewelry for an infant outside of these age ranges please contact us, so that we can make sure that your appointment is booked with a piercer who works with infants.
- The jewelry we use is a flat back titanium piece made here in California with the best materials we can get; the front has a brilliant 3 mm Swarovski stone. The piercing and the jewelry together start at $208, with upgrades all the way up to diamonds and gold available for an additional cost.
- When coming in we recommend that the infant be a little hungry, as feeding right after the procedure is very soothing.
- You will also need to bring something to swaddle them.
- Please dress the child in a way that would either be easily removable or you don’t mind staining; we use iodine to clean the piercing site prior to piercing, and it will stain clothing if it gets on it at all.
- At the time of the procedure we ask that there be at least two adults present with no other children. Parents will be involved in the piercing procedure and will not be able to give their attention to additional children, you will need to be focused.
- The healing time for earlobe piercings is typically 8-12 weeks, however with infant ear piercings we would want to extend that period by a few weeks to give the piercings the best chance to heal properly.
- We know that infant piercing is often an important milestone and often clients ask about using heirloom or gifted jewelry for their infants; however due to state law we cannot use outside jewelry, so we will not be able to use anything that you bring with you, a jewelry purchase will need to be made during your appointment.
- We also recommend that clients are VERY selective about which types and styles of jewelry that you choose. You should only use high quality body safe jewelry. Materials should be suitable for long term wear inside the body and should not contain metals like nickel, silver (even sterling silver tarnishes!) or plastic. White gold jewelry is often colored white using nickel; you should only purchase white gold that is colored white using palladium instead if you are sensitive to nickel.
Before Your Appointment
- If you are more than 5 minutes late to your appointment we will be unable to see you. We need the full 30 minutes of your appointment to allow time for the piercer to perform an anatomy check, choose appropriate jewelry, sterilize the jewelry and set up a room while you’re taking care of paperwork, and perform the piercing. Nobody wants a rushed piercing!
- Calling us to let us know you will be running late is always appreciated, unfortunately in most cases we will still be unable to see you if you arrive more than 5 minutes late to your appointment, so calling will not ‘hold’ your appointment slot. We cannot run late and interfere with other clients’ appointments. We may be able to help you reschedule your appointment, but we can only do this if you are able to contact us PRIOR to your appointment.
- Plan ahead to account for possible traffic, having a downtown location means traffic is very unpredictable and events shut down portions of streets regularly.
- Metered street parking is available directly in front of the shop. H street and I street have intermittent free parking available. Please don’t park in other businesses’ parking lots, lots of the businesses downtown will tow you if you are not their customer. You’re also welcome to pull into our driveway to park.
- Think about the piercing(s) you’ll be receiving and dress appropriately. If you’re getting a piercing that would require you to undress partially it’s always a good idea to wear clothing that can be easily removed and don’t wear too many layers. Don’t wear white if you are getting a piercing that has a tendency to spot bleed, like genital piercings or nipple piercings.
- Think about what jewelry you might like to see in your piercing; we have a massive selection, with thousands and thousands of different pieces, and new ones coming in all the time! The more info you can give your piercer regarding the visual aspect of your piercing the easier it will be for them to pull pieces for you. If you’d like to check out some of the jewelry/brands we carry, check out our Instagram @theexoticbody where we have lots of photos of jewelry, both on and off of clients.
